HITS PLAYJAM (2013, 1st edition)
The Hits Playjam was a 48h game jam event (an event where people have to collaborate in small team to make a game prototype in less than 2 days) for students, co-organized by Laurent Checola (LeMonde.fr) and myself. It was the first edition of an event that took place at distance, using only social networks and a mutual plaftform based at LeMonde.fr to organize the whole thing.
Instead of providing a words or a quote as a theme, inspiration was given to the jammers through the short video Tango made by the Polish filmmaker Zbigniew Rybczynski in 1980. Each team had to respect some basics rules and pick at least one challenging constraint among a list we've povided them. Since the whole jam happened online, we've asked for one member of each team to be involved in the communication and community management of the project. These rules made this online event very unique since every team had a very creative and active presence on social networks, it conveys a strong community feeling just like if every participants were actually in the same physical space.
The jam was well-received among the community and the results provided interesting game prototypes. One of the team was really inspired by the video theme and created the first prototype of the game Wojna Taniec.
Working in duo with Laurent Checola, we've designed and animated the whole event.
